Discovering Paradise
Discovering Paradise
Warm, sunny, and dry weather year-round, with daytime highs of 29-32°C (84-90°F) and a constant trade-wind breeze. Curaçao sits south of the hurricane belt, so direct storms are very rare. Month-by-month climate, sea conditions, and the best time to visit below.
December - April
Sunny skies and reliable beach weather. The busiest, priciest stretch, overlapping with pre-Lent Carnival.
September - November
Still warm and sunny, with brief showers at most. Lower prices and fewer crowds.
Direct storms very rare
Curaçao sits below the main Atlantic track. Monitor forecasts and insure your trip just in case.
Curaçao sits in the southern Caribbean, just north of Venezuela, with temperatures generally between 25°C and 32°C (77°F and 90°F) year-round. Because it lies south of the hurricane belt and outside the wettest Caribbean weather patterns, it receives only about 550mm of rain a year, making it one of the driest, sunniest islands in the region. Northeast trade winds blow steadily across the island, keeping the coasts comfortable even at the height of summer.

The ideal months depend on what you want to do
Year-round
Warm, sunny weather all year and calm leeward (south and west) coves make Curaçao a reliable beach destination in any month.
Year-round
Curaçao is one of the world's top shore-diving islands. The calm, clear leeward water gives excellent visibility over reefs, the Tugboat wreck, and the Mushroom Forest year-round.
Year-round
Steady trade winds and reliable sun suit sailing and catamaran day trips, including the popular crossing to the uninhabited islet of Klein Curaçao.
Sep - Nov
Low season brings lower room rates and fewer crowds. Any rain tends to fall as brief showers, leaving plenty of sunny hours.
Dec - Apr
The slightly cooler, drier months are the most comfortable for climbing Christoffel Mountain and walking the trails of Shete Boka National Park.
Jan - Mar
Curaçao's Carnival builds for weeks before Lent (January to early March), ending with the Grand Parade through Willemstad in a blaze of tumba music and color.
Temperatures are similar islandwide; mainly the wind, surf, and rainfall change from coast to coast
Jan Thiel, Mambo Beach, Spanish Water, Caracasbaai
The sheltered leeward (south) coast is the calmest and warmest, with the island's most popular swimming beaches and bays. Steady trade winds keep it comfortable.
Punda, Otrobanda, Handelskade, Pietermaai
The UNESCO-listed capital sits on the protected south coast, with hot sunny days softened by the sea breeze off the harbour. Evenings stay warm and lively.
Westpunt, Playa Kenepa, Cas Abao, Christoffel Park
The rugged western end is the greenest, slightly cooler part of the island, home to Christoffel Mountain (372m), top dive beaches, and the best hiking.
Shete Boka National Park, Boka Tabla, Playa Forti
The windward north coast faces the open sea with crashing surf, blowholes, and dramatic cliffs. Spectacular to walk and photograph, but the powerful currents make it unsafe for swimming.
